Power Supply and DC Backup Function

The SEC-UL series industrial chargers from Samlex America can be used as a power supply and as a backup power source.

Usage as a power supply:

• When the charger is used as a power supply the load is directly connected to the charger at the negative terminal and one of the three positive terminals.  Note that the load consumption must not exceed the chargers capacity. 

Usage as a backup power source:

• When the charger is used as a backup power source the configuration of the chargers DIP switches must be modified as follows:  

• Once the DIP switches configuration is modified the load should be connected directly to the battery - it is recommended to use a switch between the load and the battery - with the load turned off.
• Then the charger is connected to the battery and once the system is connected the charger power is connected. The charger will start supplying current to the battery depending on its charge state ensuring it is charged. In case of a power failure the load will be powered directly from the battery and once power returns the charger will resume charging the battery.
