Power Source Function and DC Backup Power Source

The SEC-UL series industrial chargers from Samlex America can be used as a power source and as a backup power source.

Using as a power source:

• When the charger is used as a power source only the load is connected directly to the charger at the negative terminal and one of the three positive terminals. Note that the load consumption should not exceed the chargers capacity. 

Using as a backup power source:

• When the charger is used as a backup power source it is necessary to modify the configuration of the chargers DIP switches as follows:  

• Once the DIP switch configuration is modified the load must be connected directly to the battery - it is recommended to use a switch between the load and the battery - with the load turned off.
• Then connect the charger to the battery. Once connected the charger’s power supply is turned on. The charger will start supplying current to the battery depending on its charge level ensuring that it remains charged. In case of a power failure the load will be directly powered by the battery and once power is restored the charger will resume charging the battery.
